Hi everyone! My name is Gibson Kete, and I’m the editorial intern at rAVe. A little bit about me: I’m studying advertising and public relations at UNC Chapel Hill, my favorite color is forest green and I’m a proud mother to a very strange cat I found on the side of the road one summer.

Getting down to business: Sunday was AI Day, a day to honor AI technology’s positive contributions to humanity, highlight AI ethics and encourage a national conversation about AI. rAVe celebrated AI Day by posting stories written by industry experts every hour from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.. In particular, Scott Tiner of Bates College wrote about the importance of developing a strategy before implementing AI in higher education. In other news, Sean Bradley and Freddie Mossop from Futuresource Consulting wrote about the substantial declines in volume and value of the flat panel and front projection markets in Q1 of 2023, which you can read more about here.

+ AI and Higher Ed [Scott Tiner]

AI is one of the most consequential and fast-moving technologies we have seen in years. The speed of change and drastic impact of that change will cause people to react quickly, go with the crowd and make poor decisions about how the technologies will be used in their businesses. No one, not even higher ed institutions, want to be seen as out of touch, or behind the curve, so many will make decisions with speed, rather than with careful thought.

+ Flat Panel and Front Projection Markets Stall Amidst Recession Fears [Sean Bradley & Freddie Mossop]

The flat panel and front projection markets continue to battle a string of challenges, as Q1 of 2023 saw substantial declines in volume and value across both markets. The worldwide flat panel market volume saw losses at -8% YoY, with value dipping by -19%. For front projection, market volume fell -10.4% in CY 2023 Q1, with value reporting a similar trend at -9.7%.
