Hello #AVtweeps, it’s your last newsletter of 2022. I know you’re all anxious to spend time with your friends and family; I am too! So I’ll keep this pretty short. Bob Snyder writes about energy concerns in his latest column. Energy costs are constantly rising in Europe, due to several factors. But with it, certain sectors are struggling. This is, of course, a problem for ProAV. As he writes, “if institutions can’t afford heat, you bet they won’t be buying a projector or updating their AV.” What does this have to do with the rental market? Well, cultural activities will likely get cut first. From local theaters to concert venues to convention centers, I think it’s just best we read up and prepare for some potential energy-related cutbacks in Europe. Find out more about this here.
In our other column this time, Scott Tiner writes about the hyper-political world in which we live. But here’s a question: Is this a good or bad thing? Should we keep quiet about certain subjects in the workplace or are we in a space today where we need to be having (at least some) hard conversations in all areas of our life?
Happy Holidays, #AVtweeps!
