The power of networking is not something that’s been lost on me. And in Lee Distad’s latest column, he further illustrates how important knowing somebody (or even somebody who knows somebody) can be. We could all probably stand to brush up on our networking skills — and I am talking to myself as I write this. Actually, I’ll take any of your tips for chatting with someone you don’t know.

Knowing that there are fewer than six degrees of separation can be helpful. More than once when I’ve wanted to make new contact at a business I’ve gone through my contacts and found a mutual connection who’s been able to make an introduction for me, turning a cold call into a warm call.
