Samsung Introduces Terrace, Its First Outdoor 4K QLED TV and Accompanying Sound Bar
Samsung Electronics announced the release Thursday of The Terrace — the company’s first outdoor 4K QLED TV (and accompanying sound bar). The Terrace is a Samsung Smart TV — and is released as a consumer model in the U.S. and Canada. (Samsung says rollouts in Germany, Australia and New Zealand are in the works for later this year.) A professional model for different businesses is also launching later in 2020.
The Terrace TV
The Terrace is available in 55-, 65- and 75-inch models, and it includes an IP55 rating for durability against weather, water and dust.
“As the weather improves, consumers are looking to enjoy those experiences outdoors. The Terrace takes all the Samsung Smart TV experiences that consumers have come to expect, and optimizes them for the backyard,” said James Fishler, senior vice president of the home entertainment division at Samsung Electronics America.
The new TV includes Samsung’s Smart TV platform and supports multiple voice services (Bixby, Amazon Alexa and the soon-to-launch Google Assistant).
The Terrace offers a brightness level of 2,000 nits and a motion rate of MR240. It also comes with an anti-reflective coating to minimize glare. In terms of sound, it comes with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, allowing it to be paired with The Terrace Soundbar.
The Terrace Sound Bar
The Terrace Soundbar can be mounted to a wall or directly to the TV — like the Terrace TV, it has an IP55 rating. It also has distortion-canceling technology and built-in woofers.
