Today is American Thanksgiving! So I have scheduled this newsletter, and I am getting ready to spend time with my family. Thanksgiving is such an odd holiday in America. So much cooking for about 30 minutes of eating — I spent five hours baking one extremely complicated pie yesterday. I’ll let you all know if it’s any good.

+ The Never-Heard-Before Sound of Earth’s Rumble [Bob Snyder]

Scientists at the Danish Technical University (DTU) took the magnetic signals measured by ESA’s mission (and other sources) and converted them into sound — and last month broadcast the rumble of Earth’s magnetic field to the public via 32 loudspeakers dug into the ground at the Solbjerg Square in Copenhagen, Denmark. These sounds of Earth’s magnetic field have been called “five minutes of haunting, crackling audio.”

+ Projection in Decline — But Strong Opportunities in High Brightness [Freddie Mossop]

The front projection market is projected to reach a value of $4.5 billion by 2026, new research from Futuresource Consulting finds. The figure is buoyed up by an industry-wide shift to high brightness, high resolution, and SSL (laser lightsource), which is the technology required to reach these upper-brightness categories.
