I really liked Scott Tiner’s column this time. We really are living in a hyper-political world. Your views and values bleed into everything — so some people separate their personal social media from the professional. I’ve never bothered doing this — being myself is half my job, and it doesn’t feel authentic to create a professional Twitter persona. That said, different things work for different people and different companies. I just don’t think it’s possible to just not discuss “very disruptive” topics at work. We’re in the era of open books and open discourse. What do you think?

+ Working in a Hyper-Political World [Scott Tiner]

It seems that now would be a good time for AV companies of all sizes and services to consider working with their teams on determining what they value. Will you take a route similar to Meta and ban staff from discussing “very disruptive” topics while at work? What about when they are in the field? What about what they do with personal social media? Are there differences in how your company views “private” social media and “professional” social media?

+ The Flexibility vs. Performance Trade-off [Mark Coxon]

The word I hear the most from companies to describe the types of spaces they want to create is “flexible.” Because the types of meetings vary, and the amount of usage of the rooms themselves is still uncertain or sporadic, companies are looking to create reconfigurable spaces to facilitate several types of meetings of various types and sizes. On the surface, this strategy seems fairly sound.vFlexible spaces mean that businesses can create a few differently sized rooms and leverage those across departments, teams and tasks. However, flexibility comes at a cost.
