As you might know, March is Women’s History Month. And Scott Tiner wants us to think about that in his latest column. He writes about ways to do better and encourage others to do the same. What are some easy ways? He says one is making sure you call out people who are making offensive jokes and saying things they shouldn’t. You can also follow up and call out organizations and companies if you see messaging that doesn’t fit with our industry.
No matter who you are in the industry, we can all take steps to make it a little better and pave the way for those who may enter in the future. Keep calling out people who are disrespectful (and mean). Keep fighting for equal pay. Respect the people around you. Be open to the small changes that take place in the industry each day — being inclusive is important and the quicker we all embrace equity, I think the quicker we can innovate.
I’m off my soap box now. May you all have a wonderful weekend!
P.S. Don’t forget to get those Readers’ Choice Award nominations in! Seen any fantastic products from the past year? Now’s your chance to nominate them for an award. Remember, tell your friends because each nomination brings you closer to the next round of voting! And you don’t have to vote in every category if you don’t want to!
