Hey DS #AVtweeps, I hope you’ve had a good Monday!
Make sure to check out Scott Tiner’s latest column all about the future of trade shows. What do you think that future looks like? All shows in person? Hybrid forever? Read more about what Scott says our future holds here.
During the pandemic, there was a decent amount of discussion about the future of trade shows. Predictably, these theories ranged from “they would go fully virtual” to “they spring right back and be just as big as before.” I think that those who predicted a spring back to the “old days” were closer to the truth. In fact, I think that if you look at most things that changed through the past few years, you will witness a slow return to how it used to be, as it is really difficult for people and traditions to change. However, I also think and hope that while many of the standard structures of the trade show stay the same, I also hope that some things will change.
There’s a lot of information out there about hybrid meetings and meeting equity and all that, but nothing tops meeting face-to-face, shaking hands (or fist bumps if that’s more comfortable for you), discovering new contacts and having a conversation around good food. It’s what a friend of mine, Stuart Weiser, calls, “Meet, eat, and greet.” Despite all of our 24/7/365 electronic connectivity, you can’t beat the one-on-one that the E4 Experience offers.
